Train Stations in Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe does not have any train stations or railway systems.

No Rail Transport

  • Guadeloupe is a small island region with no need for trains due to its limited size and geography.
  • There are no passenger railways, subways, or cargo trains.
  • Public transport and private vehicles cover the transportation needs of residents and tourists.

Alternative Transportation Options

Buses (Public and Private)

  • Karulis: Public bus system operating mainly in Grande-Terre and parts of Basse-Terre.
  • Minibuses and private vans serve less-connected rural areas.

Cars and Taxis

  • Most people use cars, and rental services are widely available.
  • Taxis are common in towns and near the airport.

Ferries

  • Used for inter-island travel (e.g., to Les Saintes, Marie-Galante, La Désirade, Dominica, Martinique).

Historical Note

  • In the colonial era, there were small railway lines used on sugarcane plantations for freight (especially in the 19th and early 20th centuries).
  • These were dismantled as road transport became dominant.
