Barbados has produced several notable actresses who have made significant contributions to the performing arts both locally and internationally. Here are some prominent Barbadian actresses:

Rihanna (Robyn Rihanna Fenty)

Born in Saint Michael, Barbados, Rihanna is globally renowned as a singer, entrepreneur, and actress. She has appeared in films such as Battleship (2012) and Ocean’s 8 (2018). In recognition of her contributions, she was named a National Hero of Barbados in 2021.

Eva Mottley

A British-Barbadian actress, Eva Mottley was known for her role as Bella O’Reilly in the British television series Widows (1983). She was born in Barbados and had a promising career in the UK before her untimely death in 1985.

Daphne Joseph-Hackett

A pioneer in Barbadian theatre, Daphne Joseph-Hackett was instrumental in bringing Bajan Creole to the stage. She co-founded the Barbados National Theatre Workshop and was honored with the Silver Service Star of the Order of Barbados in 1985 for her contributions to the arts.

Cynthia Wilson

Born in Saint Philip, Barbados, Cynthia Wilson is an educator, performer, and writer. She has been involved in numerous dance, musical, and theater productions and has served as a founding member and president of Stage One Theatre Productions.

Leah Marville

Leah Marville is a Barbadian television host, model, and actress. She won the Miss Barbados World title in 2009 and has hosted Caribbean lifestyle shows such as Splash on BET’s Centric network. Marville has also produced her own reality series, Passport 246.
