Aruba does not have a president. Instead, its governance structure is based on its status as a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands:

Head of State

  • The King of the Netherlands (currently Willem-Alexander) is the official head of state.
  • He is represented locally by the Governor of Aruba, a ceremonial role appointed by the King for a 6‑year term (renewable once).
  • The current governor is Alfonso Boekhoudt, serving since January 2017

Head of Government

  • The head of government is the Prime Minister of Aruba, who leads the Council of Ministers and is chosen from the majority party in the Parliament (Staten)
  • Following elections on March 28, 2025, Mike Eman (Aruban People’s Party) resumed the role of Prime Minister
