Claire Akamanzi is a prominent Rwandan lawyer, public administrator, and businesswoman, known for her significant contributions to Rwanda’s economic development. She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), a position she has held since February 2017.

Early Life and Education

Akamanzi holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Makerere University in Uganda and a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She also earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Career

Before her current role at RDB, Akamanzi held various positions within the Rwandan government, including serving as the Head of Strategy and Policy in the Office of the President and as a Commercial Diplomat in London. Her leadership at RDB has been instrumental in attracting foreign investment and promoting Rwanda as a business-friendly destination.

Recent Developments

In December 2023, Akamanzi was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of NBA Africa, reflecting her expanding influence in promoting African development on a global scale.

Personal Life

Akamanzi is married and has been recognized for her contributions to Rwanda’s development and her role as a trailblazer for women in leadership positions.
