Dominica does not have an international airport for large long-haul jets, but it is served by two main airports that handle regional flights and international connections via nearby Caribbean islands.

1. Douglas–Charles Airport (DOM)

  • Formerly called: Melville Hall Airport
  • Location: Northeastern Dominica (near Marigot), ~1 hour drive from Roseau
  • Main and largest airport in Dominica

Key Features:

  • IATA code: DOM
  • Type: Commercial airport (passenger and cargo)
  • Runway: Can accommodate regional aircraft like ATRs and small jets
  • Night landing capabilities: Added in 2010
  • Handles most of Dominica’s international traffic via regional hubs

Airlines Serving DOM:

  • LIAT
  • InterCaribbean Airways
  • Air Antilles
  • Caribbean Airlines
  • Charter flights and connections from:
    • Antigua
    • Barbados
    • Saint Lucia
    • Martinique
    • Guadeloupe
    • Puerto Rico

2. Canefield Airport (DCF)

  • Location: Near Roseau, on the west coast
  • IATA code: DCF
  • Smaller, older airport with a shorter runway
  • Suitable for light aircraft and charters
  • Mostly used for:
    • Private planes
    • Inter-island charter flights
    • Medical and emergency flights

Future Plans

  • The government has announced plans for building a new international airport to handle direct long-haul flights.
    • Construction is ongoing (as of 2025)
    • Aimed at boosting tourism and investment
