Victor Nosa Ikpeba, born on June 12, 1973, in Benin City, Nigeria, is a former professional footballer renowned for his contributions to Nigerian and international football.​


Playing Career

Position: Forward​

Club Career:

  • ACB Lagos (1989): Ikpeba began his professional journey with this Nigerian club.​
  • RFC Liège (1989–1993): Discovered during the 1989 FIFA U-17 World Championship, he moved to Belgium and made 79 appearances, scoring 27 goals.​
  • AS Monaco (1993–1999): Under coach Arsène Wenger, Ikpeba flourished, making 170 appearances and netting 55 goals. He played a pivotal role in Monaco’s 1996–97 Ligue 1 title win and was the club’s top scorer in European competitions with 14 goals. ​
  • Borussia Dortmund (1999–2002): Joined the German side but faced challenges, scoring only 3 goals in 30 appearances.​
  • Real Betis (Loan, 2001–2002): A brief stint in Spain with limited impact, making just 3 appearances.​
  • Al-Ittihad Tripoli (2002–2003): Moved to Libya, scoring 13 goals in 26 appearances.​
  • R. Charleroi S.C. (2004): Returned to Belgium, contributing 5 goals in 15 matches.​
  • Al Sadd (2005): Concluded his club career in Qatar.​

International Career:

  • Nigeria National Team (1992–2002): Earned 31 caps and scored 7 goals.​
  • Major Tournaments:
    • 1994 FIFA World Cup: Part of the squad.
    • 1998 FIFA World Cup: Scored Nigeria’s only goal in a match against Bulgaria.
    • 1994 African Cup of Nations: Contributed to Nigeria’s championship win.

After retiring from professional football in 2005, Ikpeba transitioned into sports media. He currently co-hosts “Monday Night Football” on Supersport, providing insights and analysis on football matches. ​


Personal Life

Ikpeba faced personal tragedy when his wife, Atinuke, passed away from breast cancer in May 2000 at the age of 26. He resides in Lagos, Nigeria, and is a father to three children. ​
