From Crisis to Comeback: Inside Tinubu’s Bold Plan to Rebuild Nigeria

Nation-building is never easy. It’s done in the fire, not in comfort. And right now, Nigeria — the giant of Africa with over 200 million people — is in that fire. But under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, there’s a clear push to turn crisis into comeback.

As National Coordinator of the _Asiwaju Again Renewed Hope Support Initiative 2027,I’ve seen firsthand how this administration is choosing to confront, not run from, Nigeria’s toughest problems. The Battle Against Engineered InsecurityLet’s call it what it is. Nigeria faces banditry, insurgency, kidnapping, farmer-herder clashes, and separatist tensions. But beyond the usual headlines, many of these attacks follow a pattern. Billions paid in ransom. Farms attacked to trigger food shortages.

Violence in economic hubs meant to scare investors. This isn’t just crime. For many observers, it looks like a coordinated attempt by enemies of progress — both home and abroad — to destabilize a nation on the rise.President Tinubu’s response has been direct: more investment in defense, better intelligence sharing, and a new _Counter-Terrorism Strategic Plan 2025-2030_ that tackles poverty and unemployment — the soil where insecurity grows. The message is simple: we will not be distracted. Security and development must move together.

The Renewed Hope Agenda: 8 Pillars to Rebuild Launched on day one, the _Renewed Hope Agenda_ is Tinubu’s 8-point blueprint:1. Economic reform for inclusive growth2. National security 3. Food security and agriculture4. Infrastructure5. Human capital development6. Economic diversification7. Governance reform8. Energy securityIt started with two bold moves: ending the fuel subsidy that drained trillions, and unifying Nigeria’s exchange rates. Painful? Yes, in the short term. Necessary? Absolutely. What’s Changing on the GroundTwo years in, the numbers and programs are starting to show:- Economy: Federal revenues have more than doubled. Foreign reserves are around $45 billion+. Nigeria recorded a trade surplus of ₦7.55 trillion in Q1 2026. Investor confidence is returning.- Fiscal Reform: Money once lost to subsidy is now going into roads, schools, health, and direct support. States are receiving more from the federation account.- Food & Farms: A state of emergency on food security. New support for farmers battling insecurity and rising costs.

Power & Infrastructure: Power generation has crossed 6,000 MW milestones. Work on roads, rail, and housing continues.- People First*l: Student loans, consumer credit, and empowerment programs through the Renewed Hope Initiative are reaching women, youth, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. It’s not perfect. Inflation and cost of living are still real pressures. But the direction is clear: fix the foundation first.A Message to the DiasporaTo our brothers and sisters across the Caribbean, UK, US and beyond watching Nigeria: this is your story too.

When Africa’s largest economy stands, the entire Black world stands taller. The attempt to keep Nigeria down is an attempt to keep all of us down. But the Renewed Hope Agenda says otherwise. With leaders like President Tinubu and partners like SGF Sen. Dr. George Akume, and grassroots movements pushing from the ground up, Nigeria is laying the blocks for a secure, prosperous, united future. The enemies of progress want chaos. We choose construction. The agenda is not just a slogan. It’s a promise: A New Nigeria is loading.Forward ever.
