Here’s a detailed overview of the commercial banking landscape in Saint Martin—including both the French side (Saint-Martin) and the Dutch side (Sint Maarten):

Key Commercial Banks

Dutch Side: Sint Maarten

These banks operate in the territory that is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (currency: U.S. Dollar, soon Caribbean Guilder):

RBC Royal Bank N.V. (formerly RBTT)

Windward Islands Bank Ltd (WIB)

Banco di Caribe N.V.

FirstCaribbean International Bank (CIBC heritage)

Republic Bank (St. Maarten) N.V.

Orco Bank N.V.

PSB Bank N.V.
Includes full-service deposit, lending, foreign exchange, and ATM services .

French Side: Saint-Martin

These banks serve the French overseas collectivity (currency: Euro):

Banque des Antilles Françaises

Banque Française Commerciale / BFC

BNP Paribas Guadeloupe (branch in Marigot)

BRED – Banque Populaire

Crédit Mutuel de Saint-Martin (part of Crédit Mutuel network) .

Regulatory & Payment Infrastructure

The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) oversees banking supervision for the Dutch side and maintains monetary policy, including transitioning to the Caribbean Guilder (XCG) system as of July 1, 2025 .

On the French side, banking is integrated into the French and European payment systems, including access to SEPA transfers, under oversight from IEDOM (a arm of the Bank of France) .

ATM & Transactions Insights

On Sint Maarten, international ATM cards can be used across institutions like RBC, Orco, CIBC, and Scotiabank—though fees may apply for transactions out-of-network or non-local cards .

A local ATM alliance, “Cashpnt”, was launched in 2021 to unify ATM interfaces of multiple banks (except Republic Bank), allowing shared branding and management across machines .
