Here are some of the most visited and popular tourist places in Martinique:

1. Les Salines Beach (Plage des Salines)

Location: Near Sainte-Anne (south of Martinique)

Why Visit: Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean — white sands, calm turquoise waters, palm-lined shores.

Activities: Swimming, sunbathing, picnics, and photography.

2. Fort-de-France

Location: Capital city

Why Visit: Cultural and historical heart of Martinique.

Highlights:

Fort Saint-Louis (17th-century military fort)

La Savane Park

St. Louis Cathedral

Local markets (like Grand Marché)

3. Mount Pelée (Montagne Pelée)

Location: Northern Martinique

Why Visit: Active volcano with a tragic 1902 eruption history; perfect for hiking and panoramic views.

Hiking Tip: Go early in the morning when the weather is clearer.

4. Balata Botanical Garden (Jardin de Balata)

Location: Near Fort-de-France

Why Visit: Lush gardens with over 3,000 tropical plant species.

Bonus: Hanging bridges offer scenic views of the rainforest.
