An IQ score of 140 is Considered “Very Gifted, For a 4-year-Old Black Girl

An IQ score of 140 is considered “very gifted” or “genius-level” for any age. For a 4-year-old Black girl, this would place her far above the average for her age group, since the general population average IQ is 100.

Here are a few important things to note:

IQ at a young age: Scores at 4 years old can show early giftedness, but children’s abilities develop quickly, and their intellectual profile can change as they grow.

Gifted range: A score of 140 places her in the top 0.5–1% of the population.

Support: Children with very high IQs often benefit from enriched learning environments, mentorship, and programs designed for gifted learners to keep them challenged and engaged.

Representation: Highlighting young Black children achieving at such levels is important, as their gifts are often overlooked or under-supported in traditional education systems.
