Here are some notable movie stars from Martinique:


1. Firmine Richard

Born: March 25, 1947 (Guadeloupe, raised in Martinique)

Famous for:

Romuald et Juliette (1989)

8 Women (2002)

Hunting and Gathering (2007)

Known for playing strong, motherly roles in French cinema.


2. Luc Saint-Eloy

Born: April 6, 1953

Profession: Actor, director, playwright

Notable Work:

Active in theater and film promoting Caribbean culture in France

Appeared in French TV series and films throughout the 1980s and 1990s.


3. Jean-Claude Duverger

Known for: Roles in French TV series and cultural theater in the Antilles.

A familiar face in Martinican media, including traditional stories adapted for the screen.


4. Euzhan Palcy (honorary mention – director but also appears in media)

Born: January 13, 1958

Famous for:

Sugar Cane Alley (Rue Cases-Nègres, 1983)

A Dry White Season (1989), starring Marlon Brando and Donald Sutherland

While primarily a director, her international impact on cinema gives her a strong presence.


5. Jenny Alpha (born in Martinique, early cinema & stage star)

Born: April 22, 1910 – Died: September 8, 2010

One of the earliest Martinican actresses to make a name in French cinema and theater.
