Here are some famous people from Martinique, across different fields like politics, arts, sports, and culture:


Politics & Activism

Aimé Césaire – Renowned poet, author, and politician; co-founder of the Négritude movement and long-time mayor of Fort-de-France.

Frantz Fanon – Influential psychiatrist, philosopher, and revolutionary thinker, known for works like Black Skin, White Masks and The Wretched of the Earth.

Serge Letchimy – Prominent politician and current President of the Executive Council of Martinique.


Arts & Literature

Joseph Zobel – Author of La Rue Cases-Nègres (Sugar Cane Alley), a classic in Francophone Caribbean literature.

Patrick Chamoiseau – Writer and winner of the prestigious Prix Goncourt (1992) for his novel Texaco.
