Dominica does not have any deserts.

Why There Are No Deserts in Dominica

Dominica is a tropical island in the eastern Caribbean, known for its:

  • Lush rainforests
  • High rainfall
  • Rivers and waterfalls
  • Mountainous volcanic terrain

These natural features make it one of the wettest and greenest islands in the Caribbean.

Climate

  • Tropical rainforest climate
  • Annual rainfall: Up to 7,600 mm (300 inches) in some mountain areas
  • Dominica is often called “The Nature Island of the Caribbean”

Ecosystems Found in Dominica Instead

  • Rainforests
  • Montane forests
  • Freshwater lakes and rivers
  • Coral reefs
  • Coastal wetlands

Fun Fact:

Dominica has 365 rivers (one for every day of the year) — a complete contrast to desert environments.
