Seaports in Fiji – Overview

As an island nation, Fiji relies heavily on seaports for international trade, inter-island transportation, and tourism (especially cruises and ferries). Fiji has major international ports, regional wharves, and local jetties that support commercial, passenger, and fishing vessels.


1. Major Seaports in Fiji

Port of Suva

  • Location: Capital city, southeast Viti Levu
  • Type: Main international commercial port
  • Services:
    • Cargo ships (imports & exports)
    • Cruise ships
    • Inter-island ferries
  • Managed by: Fiji Ports Corporation Limited (FPCL)
  • One of the busiest ports in the South Pacific

Port of Lautoka

  • Location: Western Viti Levu
  • Type: Second largest port in Fiji
  • Known for: Exporting sugar, molasses, and timber
  • Also handles:
    • Bulk cargo
    • Fuel imports
    • Container ships
