Here’s a List of the Main Seaports in The Territories That Made Up the Former Netherlands Antilles

Here’s a list of the main seaports in the territories that made up the former Netherlands Antilles, now consisting of Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Saba, and Sint Eustatius.


Curaçao

1. Port of Willemstad

  • Location: Willemstad, Curaçao
  • Type: Deep-water seaport
  • Facilities: Container terminal, cruise terminal, oil terminals, ship repair (Damen Shiprepair Curaçao)
  • Notes: One of the most important ports in the southern Caribbean. A hub for oil transshipment and cruise tourism.

2. Bullen Bay Terminal

  • Use: Oil storage and transfer
  • Operated by: Curaçao Oil Terminal
  • Clients: PDVSA (formerly), now under local control

Sint Maarten

3. Port of Philipsburg (Dr. A.C. Wathey Cruise & Cargo Facility)

  • Location: Philipsburg, Sint Maarten
  • Type: Cruise and cargo port
  • Features: One of the busiest cruise ports in the Caribbean
  • Notes: Also handles containers and breakbulk cargo

Bonaire

4. Port of Kralendijk

  • Location: Kralendijk, Bonaire
  • Type: Cruise and cargo port
  • Use: Small container ships, cruise ships, oil products
  • Notes: Includes the BOPEC (Bonaire Petroleum Corporation) terminal (status varies by year)

Saba

5. Fort Bay Harbor

  • Location: Fort Bay, Saba
  • Type: Small general cargo and passenger port
  • Use: Ferry terminal, fishing vessels, and imports
  • Notes: Only seaport on Saba

Sint Eustatius

6. Port of Oranjestad

  • Location: Oranjestad, Sint Eustatius
  • Type: Cargo and oil transshipment
  • Key Facility: Statia Terminals (oil storage and transfer)
  • Notes: Key location for petroleum storage and shipping
