Puerto Rico, the official and only currency used is the United States Dollar (USD).

Currency Facts:

  • Symbol: $
  • Currency Code: USD
  • Common Coins: 1¢ (penny), 5¢ (nickel), 10¢ (dime), 25¢ (quarter), 50¢ (half-dollar, rare), $1 (Sacagawea or presidential coin, rare)
  • Common Bills: $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100

Important Notes:

  • Most businesses accept credit/debit cards, but cash is still useful in smaller towns or local markets.
  • Prices are typically displayed in U.S. dollars.
