Emeline King is a trailblazing automotive designer who made history as the first Black woman to work as a designer for Ford Motor Company.

Career & Achievements

Joined Ford in 1983 and worked there for nearly 25 years.
Played a key role in designing iconic vehicles, including the 1994 Ford Mustang interior.
Broke barriers in a male-dominated industry and paved the way for future generations of Black women in automotive design.
Authored the book “What Do You Mean A Black Girl Can’t Design Cars? Emeline King, She Did It!”

Legacy & Impact

  • Inspired more diversity in the automotive and design fields.
  • Continues to mentor and advocate for underrepresented talent in engineering and design.
