Wildlife in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Though small in size, SVG is home to diverse terrestrial and marine wildlife, especially due to its volcanic terrain, rainforests, coral reefs, and uninhabited islands.


Birds (Avifauna)

SVG is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 170 species, including endemic and migratory birds.

Key Species:

  • St. Vincent Parrot (Amazona guildingii)
    • National bird, found only in SVG
    • Bright green, yellow, and blue plumage
    • Lives in the rainforests of the central mountains
    • Protected species
  • Whistling Warbler (Endemic)
