Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, Divine—as he prefers to be called—is a standout student and innovator whose work centers on making medical technology affordable and accessible.
Groundbreaking Projects
- Cost-Effective Prosthetic Hand
Divine developed a prosthetic hand that uses computer vision (webcam) to mimic hand movements—a more affordable alternative to expensive myoelectric models.
He enhanced the design with gecko-inspired fingertip grips, significantly improving the prosthetic’s ability to grasp objects reliably. - Low-Cost Health Monitor
At the Chicago Public Schools Science Fair, Divine also showcased an innovation to measure heart rate, temperature, and blood oxygen levels affordably—aimed at reducing financial barriers to basic health monitoring.
National Recognition
He was named 2025 National STEM Champion and earned an all-expenses-paid trip to showcase his work at EXPLR’s National STEM Festival in Washington, D.C.

Divine’s fascination with STEM blossomed through his grandfather’s mentorship, his uncle’s technical influence, and the engaging teaching style of his 4th-grade science teacher at Brennemann Elementary.
Future Ambitions & Intelligence Beyond STEM
He plans to study biomedical engineering, with interest in soft robotics and innovative assistive technologies. He’s applied to 23 universities, including top candidates like Johns Hopkins and University of Pennsylvania.
Outside the lab, Divine solves Rubik’s Cubes, plays basketball and rugby, enjoys biking, and is an active member of Lane Tech’s Black Student Association
