The Morocco Under-20 team are hoping to follow in the footsteps of their senior national team by making footballing history at the 2025 World Cup this week.
Morocco are bidding to reach the final for the first time when they lock horns with former champions France at the Estadio Elias Figueroa Brander in Valparaiso on Wednesday night.
Mohammed Ouahbi’s side beat Spain and Brazil in the group stages before dispatching South Korea in the round of 16 and the United States in the quarter-finals to book a date with Les Bleuets in the semi-finals.
They will be inspired by the Atlas Lions, who set a new record for the most consecutive wins (16) after edging Congo 1-0 in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
The North Africans also made it to the penultimate stage of the global showpiece in 2005 when they eventually finished fourth after losing 3-0 to Nigeria.
In the other semi-final taking place in the early hours of Thursday morning, Argentina and Colombia will clash in a South American derby at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martinez Pradanos in Santiago.
