The founder of Dodo Farms, Mrs Tope Fajingbesi, has said her relatives were an inspiration behind the establishment of the agricultural business she started in the United States. She said Dodo Farms had hosted the Maryland State Agriculture and Commerce Secretaries as confirmation of the business “as a recognised agricultural model.”She made this known to Diaspora Tales on Thursday while speaking on the importance of her business to the US.The Nigerian accounting professional said she started the business in 2018 on the premise that her husband and late father both owned farms in Nigeria.

My husband and late father, who both owned farming enterprises in Nigeria, inspired me to start the farm. It was also important to me that I don’t just talk about the over-commercialisation of the food industry but do something about it.

Dodo Farms is my way of doing something about the prevalent problems in the US food and agricultural sector.”Speaking about the feats, she said, “Our county executive and state assembly members are speaking at high-level panels in DC, confirming our work as a recognised agricultural model.”“We also piloted our Edu Tours programme, blending farming with African and Black agricultural history, and confirmed strong demand for culturally rooted education.“The idea was my husband’s, but our business is unique. I am the only owner of the business while he is the operator,” she added.
