Here’s a look at the Super Falcons’ winning runs in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON)—highlighting their historic dominance on the continental stage:


Nigeria’s WAFCON Title Runs: Streaks of Success

  1. 5 Consecutive Titles (1998–2006)

Champions in 1998 (hosted), 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006—an unprecedented five consecutive WAFCON wins.

This remains the longest title-defense streak in WAFCON history .

  1. Four-in-a-Row (2010–2018)

After losing the title in 2008, the Super Falcons reclaimed dominance with back-to-back triumphs in 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2018 .

  1. Return to the Throne: 2024 (Tournament played July 2025)

Nigeria captured their 10th WAFCON title in the 2024 edition, held in Morocco in July 2025, by defeating hosts Morocco 3–2 in a dramatic final comeback .

That streak of championships includes final appearances in every edition except for losses in 2008, 2012, and 2022
