The first African American women to own a stake in an NFL franchise are Venus and Serena Williams.

In 2009, the Williams sisters became minority owners of the Miami Dolphins, making history as the first Black women to have an ownership stake in an NFL team. Their investment was part of an initiative by Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, who brought in several celebrity minority owners, including Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, and Fergie.

Their involvement in the Dolphins marked a significant moment in sports ownership, highlighting the growing influence of women and minorities in professional sports
