Here are some of the most famous Cayman Islands athletes, spanning multiple sports and putting the territory on the global stage:


Jordan Crooks (Swimming)

  • World champion & world record-holder in the 50 m freestyle at the 2022 FINA Short Course World Championships—the first-ever world gold for Cayman .
  • Broke the 20-second barrier in the 50 m free (19.90 s), first Cayman swimmer to reach an Olympic final in 2024 and finished 8th

Cydonie Mothersill (Track & Field)

  • Sprinter who won bronze in the 200 m at the 2001 World Championships, marking the Cayman Islands’ first-ever world track medal
  • Captured gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, a pinnacle moment celebrated nationwide

Kemar Hyman (Track & Field)

  • National record-holder in the 100 m (9.95 s) and 200 m, Olympian at the 2012 London Games, and former 60 m indoor ACC champion

Brett Fraser (Swimming)

  • Olympic swimmer who earned a bronze at the 2008 Olympics in the 200 m freestyle and Commonwealth gold in 2010

Dow Travers (Winter Sports & Rugby)

  • Made history as Cayman’s first-ever Winter Olympian in alpine skiing at Vancouver (2010) and Sochi (2014). Also represented Cayman in rugby union & sevens
