In the lead-up to Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has introduced several new faces to the national team. Notably, Tolu Arokodare, Igoh Ogbu, and Papa Mustapha have received their first-ever call-ups.

New Call-Ups:

  • Tolu Arokodare (Striker, KRC Genk, Belgium): Arokodare has been in outstanding form, leading the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with 18 goals this season. His impressive performances have earned him a spot in the national team.
  • Igoh Ogbu (Defender, SK Slavia Prague, Czech Republic): Ogbu’s consistent defensive displays have caught the attention of the national selectors, earning him his first call-up to the Super Eagles.
  • Papa Mustapha (Midfielder, Niger Tornadoes, Nigeria): Representing the domestic league, Mustapha’s performances with Niger Tornadoes have been recognized with a call-up to the national team.

These inclusions reflect Coach Chelle’s strategy to blend emerging talents with seasoned internationals as Nigeria aims to rejuvenate its World Cup qualification campaign. The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 and host Zimbabwe in Uyo on March 25.
