Honduras has a diversified economy with key industries in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, and tourism.


1. Agriculture & Agro-Processing

  • Bananas – historically called the “banana republic” due to dependence on exports
  • Coffee – one of the top export products, especially specialty coffee
  • Palm oil – produced along the Caribbean coast
  • Sugarcane, melons, and shrimp – significant exports
  • Agro-processing for both domestic consumption and export markets

2. Textile & Apparel Manufacturing (Maquila Sector)
