Eritrea is a country in the Horn of Africa, bordering Sudan, Ethiopia, and Djibouti, with a coastline along the Red Sea. It gained independence from Ethiopia in 1993 after a long struggle. The capital city is Asmara, known for its Italian colonial architecture and modernist buildings.
