Dr. Adeola Olubamiji is an inspiring Nigerian-Canadian scientist, entrepreneur, and speaker who made history as the first Black person to earn a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 2017.

Background & Education

  • Born in Nigeria, she grew up in modest circumstances as the fifth child of five.
  • Earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Nigeria.
  • Obtained a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tampere University of Technology, Finland.
  • Completed her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, specializing in 3D printing of bones and tissues.

Career & Impact

  • Worked in advanced manufacturing and 3D printing at various multinational companies.
  • Founded STEMHub Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on empowering youth and professionals, especially minorities, in STEM fields.
  • Passionate about mentorship, education, and career development, frequently speaking on overcoming obstacles as a Black woman in STEM.
