Early Life & Education

  • Real Name: Innocent Ujah Idibia
  • Stage Names: 2Face Idibia (formerly), now 2Baba
  • Born: September 18, 1975
  • Place of Birth: Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria
  • State of Origin: Benue State (Idoma ethnic group)
  • Education: Attended the Institute of Management & Technology (IMT), Enugu, but dropped out to pursue music.

Music Career

Plantashun Boiz Era (1997–2004)

  • 2Baba started his career as part of the R&B group Plantashun Boiz with Blackface and Faze.
  • They released two albums:
    • Body & Soul (2000)
    • Sold Out (2003)
  • The group later disbanded in 2004, leading to his solo career.

Solo Career & Breakthrough (2004–2007)

  • Debut Album: Face 2 Face (2004)
    • Featured the international hit “African Queen”, which became one of Africa’s biggest love songs.
    • The song was also featured in the Hollywood movie Phat Girlz (2006).
  • Second Album: Grass 2 Grace (2006)
    • Hit songs: True Love, For Instance, See Me So.
    • Won multiple awards, solidifying his status as Nigeria’s top artist.

International Success (2009–2014)

  • Signed with Hypertek Entertainment after leaving Kennis Music.
  • Released several successful albums, including:
    • The Unstoppable (2009) – Included the hit Enter the Place.
    • Away & Beyond (2012) – Featured Rainbow and Ihe Neme.
    • The Ascension (2014) – Featured Let Somebody Love You.

Later Career & Legacy (2015–Present)

  • In 2016, 2Baba officially changed his name from 2Face to 2Baba.
  • Released several singles and collaborations, maintaining relevance in the industry.
  • Recognized as a legend in Afrobeats and one of the most influential Nigerian musicians.

Activism & Philanthropy

  • Advocates for good governance, peace, and youth empowerment.
  • Led protests against corruption in Nigeria.
  • Runs the 2Baba Foundation, focusing on education and social causes.

Awards & Achievements

  • First African artist to win MTV Europe Music Award (2005).
  • Multiple Headies Awards and MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs).
  • BET Award for Best International Act (2011).
