The Ooni of Ife is the traditional ruler and spiritual leader of the Yoruba people, based in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. The position is one of the most revered in Yoruba culture, as Ile-Ife is considered the ancestral home of the Yoruba civilization. The Ooni is regarded as a direct descendant of Oduduwa, the legendary progenitor of the Yoruba people.

Current Ooni of Ife

The current Ooni of Ife is Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II). He ascended the throne in 2015, succeeding Oba Okunade Sijuwade. Ooni Ogunwusi is known for his modern approach to leadership, promoting Yoruba culture, youth empowerment, and unity among traditional rulers in Nigeria.

The Ooni plays a crucial role in preserving Yoruba traditions, mediating disputes, and fostering cultural and economic development. His influence extends beyond Nigeria, as he represents the Yoruba people globally
