World Bank Backs Nigerian EdTech as One of Africa’s Best

afeticha, the pioneering Nigerian EdTech startup that has been transforming learning across Africa since 2022, has successfully completed the prestigious SheWins Africa Accelerator Programme by the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC).

What began as a single teacher’s vision to create a learning management solution has grown into an EdTech leader recognised across the continent.Founded by Princess Onwuka, an educator with a Master’s in Education and over ten years’ experience training thousands of teachers in Nigeria, and Damilare Adepoju, a software developer with a decade of experience delivering scalable solutions in banking, fintech and EdTech, Safeticha is redefining classroom learning. Its AI-driven, research-based methods improve both academic and behavioural outcomes, making a tangible difference in schools, not just on paper.About SafetichaEstablished in 2022, Safeticha leverages AI to enhance learning outcomes for diverse learners. Its platform combines classroom analytics, lesson planning and personalised learning tools, helping teachers and school leaders to improve student engagement and academic performance.

Since its launch, Safeticha has partnered with school owners and teachers to implement personalised learning systems, behaviour tracking and data-driven interventions, reaching hundreds of schools and thousands of students across Africa.In the inaugural SheWins Africa Accelerator cohort, the World Bank selected the top 100 female-led startups across the continent, with Safeticha among the few EdTech companies awarded. The programme provides support for future innovation and expansion, recognising Safeticha as a leading force in AI-driven education.Looking ahead, Safeticha is in discussions with organisations and school networks to implement a unified AI-powered system across multiple schools, aiming to bring consistent, high-quality learning solutions to more students across Africa.
