Verda Tetteh is a remarkable individual whose altruistic actions have garnered widespread admiration. In June 2021, during her graduation from Fitchburg High School in Massachusetts, Verda was awarded a $40,000 scholarship intended to support her college expenses. Despite this generous offer, she chose to decline the scholarship, requesting that it be redirected to students with greater financial need. Verda, who had secured a full scholarship to Harvard University covering tuition, room, and board, felt that the additional funds would be more impactful if allocated to classmates facing financial challenges.

Her decision was deeply influenced by her mother, Rosemary Annan, who had recently completed her studies at a community college. Verda expressed a desire for the scholarship to assist students pursuing education at community colleges, recognizing the significant financial hurdles many face in such settings.

Following Verda’s selfless act, the $40,000 scholarship was divided among four students, each receiving $10,000 to support their educational endeavors. This gesture not only provided tangible assistance to her peers but also highlighted the profound impact of generosity and community support in the realm of education.
