The highly accomplished lawyer of many years, fondly called TW, wears his public office not as a title, but as a calling. He has set a standard for many technocrats and professionals who intend to make marks in public service while gradually building a legacy that will be revered as a shining example of what principled leadership can achieve in the quest for a just and equitable society.

His first public office was as the Special Adviser on Education to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and this Harvard-trained technocrat pushed data-led reforms across Lagos tertiary institutions. Today, he is shaping the megacity’s physical ecosystem with the same strategic nerve. As commissioner in charge of the environment in a metropolis tottering on ecological challenges, Wahab’s playbook has been to enforce laws, partner globally, and prioritize infrastructure. Various institutions including the World Bank have praised his transformative rigour. Yet Wahab never failed to realise that his professional and political journey reflect divine grace.

Wahab sees charity as a religion and personal thus he quietly helps humanity without any fanfare. His approach is deeply rooted in his personal beliefs and philosophy of life. Nevertheless, countless beneficiaries of his generosity who emerged from their struggles empowered, hopeful, and deeply encouraged by his kindness hardly keep mute. At any given opportunity, they display overwhelming affection towards him in a sincere appreciation of his impressive profile, recognisable achievements, and exceptional humanity.Tomorrow, Sunday, May 17, genial Wahab will be celebrating his 54th birthday. However, this Ketu-Epe-born gentleman is known for his understated approach to celebrating his birthday.

He prefers simplicity over extravagance. He values authenticity and humility, often opting for intimate gatherings that resonate more with his principles rather than grand festivities..Aside from his 50th birthday in 2022 that was lavishly celebrated, Wahab’s subsequent birthdays have been marked by low-key soirees with his inner circle of friends and associates. This is what is anticipated once again for his 54th birthday.
