Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu has turned Lagos into a showcase of modern, inclusive development. From the bustling heart of *Lagos Island* to the rapidly growing corridors of *Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Epe and Alimosho*, his administration’s projects touch every corner of the state.

Transportation and Traffic Management – The flagship *Blue Line* and *Red Line* rail projects now whisk commuters from Marina to Agege in under 30 minutes, dramatically easing gridlock. Complementing the rail, the *Oshodi‑Abule‑Egba BRT lane* and the *Agege‑Pen Cinema flyover* have opened up new arteries for traffic flow, while water‑transport upgrades cut travel times on the lagoon routes.

Road Infrastructure – Over *172 roads* have been completed, including the *Opebi‑Ojota Link Bridge*, the *Akoka‑Bariga‑Gbagada network* (4.7 km) and the *Ikeja GRA road suite* (6.134 km). In Alimosho, the *Babafemi Dada bridge* and surrounding road network (1.8 km) have slashed travel from Ayobo to Igando from an hour to just 15 minutes, boosting local commerce and creating hundreds of jobs.

Education and Technology – Through the *EKOEXCEL* program, public primary schools have received new classrooms, digital tools and teacher‑training, earning national and international praise. The upgrade of *Lagos State Polytechnic* and the *College of Education* to full universities expands tertiary access for youths across all zones.

Health and Environment– A new *children’s hospital*, one of Africa’s largest, anchors a broader health‑infrastructure push. Modern drainage systems built into every new road project have curbed chronic flooding, especially in low‑lying areas like *Ikeja GRA* and Lekki.

Economic and Housing Initiatives – The *Lekki Deep Seaport*, approvals for the *Badagry Port* and the forthcoming *Lagos International Airport* are set to cement Lagos as a West‑African trade hub. Over *7,000 housing units* have been delivered, with many more under construction to meet the city’s soaring population. Agricultural ventures such as the *Imota Rice Mill* and the *Lagos Agripreneurship Programme* are creating jobs and enhancing food security.

Security and Governance – The *Lagos State Security Trust Fund* has equipped agencies with better technology and rapid‑response capabilities, making the metropolis safer for residents and investors alike.

Olubadan’s Commendation

His Royal Majesty, *Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, recently paid a courtesy visit to Governor Sanwo‑Olu at Lagos House, Marina. He praised the governor’s “giant strides” in traffic management, rail development and water transport, noting that the *Blue and Red lines* and expanded ferry services have significantly reduced travel times across Lagos. Oba Ladoja also expressed gratitude for Lagos’s support during his coronation and called for constitutional recognition of traditional rulers, a request the governor welcomed as a step toward stronger governance and grassroots development.

Conclusion

From railways to roads, from schools to seaports, Governor Sanwo‑Olu’s visionary projects are reshaping Lagos into a model of sustainable, inclusive growth. The acknowledgment from a revered Yoruba monarch like the Olubadan underscores the regional impact of these achievements and signals a future where Lagos continues to lead as a beacon of progress in Africa.
