Here’s an updated snapshot of Curaçao’s currency situation:

1. Currency Transition

  • As of March 31, 2025, Curaçao introduced a new currency—the Caribbean guilder (XCG)—co-circulating with the Netherlands Antillean guilder (ANG)
  • The ANG will cease being legal tender on July 1, 2025, after which only the XCG will remain in circulation
  • ANG can still be exchanged at banks or the central bank at par (1 ANG = 1 XCG) until June 30, 2026, and until 2055 at CBCS .

2. Exchange Rate (to US Dollar)

  • The Caribbean guilder (and ANG) is pegged to the US dollar at a fixed rate of 1 USD = 1.79 guilders
  • That means:
    • 1 guild = ≈ $0.5587 USD
    • 5 guilds = ≈ $2.7935 USD
  • These values have remained stable over recent months .

Summary

  • Curaçao now uses the Caribbean guilder (XCG), replacing the ANG.
  • Both currencies are pegged 1.79 to the USD, and this rate remains fixed and stable.
  • No need to worry about currency fluctuations—it’s a predictable exchange system.
