Obafemi “Femi” Banigbe is a distinguished Nigerian technology executive and entrepreneur, renowned for his extensive contributions to the African telecommunications landscape. In July 2024, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of 9mobile, one of Nigeria’s prominent telecommunications companies, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Educational Background

Femi holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria. He furthered his expertise through the Ericsson Management Development Program and the Advanced Management Program at the London Business School. Additionally, he earned an MBA from Manchester Business School, UK.

Professional Trajectory

Femi’s career commenced at Celtel Nigeria (now Airtel Nigeria), where he served as Director of Operations. He then made significant contributions at Ericsson across various roles within the Sub-Saharan Africa Market Unit, culminating as the Network Support Group Manager for Access and Transport Networks. His leadership journey continued at Millicom Ghana, where he held pivotal positions including Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Chief Operations Officer (COO), and Interim CEO. His diverse international experience spans countries such as the United States and several African nations.

Entrepreneurial and Advisory Roles

Beyond corporate roles, Femi co-founded Silver Rock Technology Services, a strategic advisory firm specializing in the Telecom, Media, and Technology sectors. He also served as a Non-Executive Director at Amplitude Telecoms in Nigeria and was an Advisory Board member for Telecel Group, playing a pivotal role in guiding the group’s successful acquisition of Vodafone Ghana. His advisory portfolio extends to the Nsano Group, a leading Fintech platform operating across multiple African countries.
