Viola Davis is an American actress and producer, widely regarded as one of the greatest performers of her generation. She was born on August 11, 1965, in St. Matthews, South Carolina, and grew up in Rhode Island.

Career Highlights:

Trained at the Juilliard School.

Gained attention in theater, winning two Tony Awards for her stage work (King Hedley II and Fences).
