
Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, born on July 29, 1963, in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria, is a distinguished lawyer, human rights activist, and politician. He currently serves as the Senate Majority Leader in Nigeria’s 10th National Assembly, a position he has held since July 4, 2023.
Representing the Ekiti Central Senatorial District since June 2019, Senator Bamidele is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His extensive political career includes serving as a member of the House of Representatives from June 2011 to June 2015, where he represented Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1. He also held the position of Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State from July 2007 to February 2011, and Commissioner for Youths, Sports, and Social Development in Lagos State from July 2003 to May 2007.
In recognition of his contributions to national development, Senator Bamidele was conferred with the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in October 2022.
