Nigerian sprinter Alaba Akintola delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 Music City Challenge in Tennessee, securing victory in the men’s 200m event. Representing Middle Tennessee State University, Akintola clocked a time of 20.50 seconds (+0.9 m/s wind), outpacing American competitors Antonio Lay (20.64s) and John Sherman (20.72s)

In addition to his 200m triumph, Akintola showcased his versatility by advancing to the 100m final, where he secured a third-place finish with a time of 10.30 seconds (+1.3 m/s wind)

This victory adds to Akintola’s growing list of accomplishments. He previously clinched gold in the 4×100m relay at the 2023 African Games and earned a bronze medal in the same event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games . His consistent performances continue to solidify his reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading sprinters on the international stage.
