Kayode Are, Nigeria’s ambassador to the United States, attended the first US-Nigeria working group meeting in Abuja on Thursday, held in response to the redesignation of Nigeria as a ‘country of particular concern’ (CPC) by President Donald Trump.It was the day Are’s posting to the US as ambassador was announced in a statement issued by the presidency.
The Nigerian delegation at the meeting was led by Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser (NSA), and included various security chiefs.
Allison Hooker, under-secretary of state, headed the US team.
Both sides reaffirmed their strategic commitment to defeating banditry, terrorism and strengthening national security through deeper collaboration.Here are some photographs from the meeting.
