The Federal Government through the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) is set to provide a transformative platform connecting unemployed graduates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory with paid, practical work experience

Ahead of its official launch, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Hadejia, at a press briefing in Abuja, highlighted the programme’s role in furthering President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by tackling youth unemployment and boosting national productivity. The official launch is scheduled for Wednesday and will be led by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the State House Conference Centre.“The 12-month paid fellowship offers graduates meaningful placements in both public and private sectors, providing a monthly stipend of ₦150,000,” Hadejia said. “It equips young Nigerians with essential skills and hands-on experience, addressing the economic setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”The programme is supported by international partners including the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The EU Head of Operations revealed a €44 million commitment to assist the NJFP’s implementation, while the UNDP representative expressed enthusiasm for the expanding collaboration that will strengthen more Nigerian institutions.

Employing organisations benefit by gaining access to skilled personnel, lowering recruitment costs, and improving productivity. Meanwhile, fellows receive valuable experience that can lead to permanent jobs, entrepreneurial ventures, or other career paths.“At programme completion, organisations may retain fellows, or they may start businesses that create more employment opportunities,” the deputy chief of staff explained. With combined backing from the Nigerian government, the EU, and UNDP, the NJFP aims to build a stronger, inclusive workforce and deliver brighter economic prospects for Nigeria’s youth.
