Dr. Jennifer Ellis is a distinguished cardiothoracic surgeon with over 30 years of experience. She earned her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University’s Sidney Kimmel Medical College in 1990 and completed her residency at New York Medical College. She further specialized through a fellowship at New York University Medical Center-Tisch Hospital, concluding in 1999.

Dr. Ellis is board-certified in Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery and has been affiliated with MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

She is notably one of only five board-certified Black female cardiothoracic surgeons in the United States, serving as a role model and trailblazer in her field.

Her clinical interests encompass adult cardiac surgery and cardiovascular surgery.

Dr. Ellis has also contributed to medical literature, co-authoring articles such as “Acute Mesenteric Ischemia” in Minerva Chirurgica and “Ten-year screening for thrombocytopenia after aortic valve replacement” in Interactive Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.
