Ongoing road, erosion control, flyover projects will be completed in record time — Edo govt

The Edo State Government has assured residents that all ongoing road construction, erosion control and flyover projects across the Edo South Senatorial District of the state will be completed and commissioned in record time.The assurance was given by the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Dr Felix Ehiguese Akhabue, during an inspection tour of major infrastructure projects being executed by the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo, over the weekend

Akhabue said the government was working around the clock to ensure the timely delivery of the projects, noting that construction activities were currently ongoing at several locations across the state.According to him, the projects, which he described as “legacy investments,” are aimed at improving road connectivity, tackling erosion challenges and enhancing economic activities.He disclosed that over 250 kilometres of roads are presently under construction across Edo State, alongside erosion control works with surface and underground drainage systems, as well as two major flyover bridges.

Among the projects inspected were the construction of Technical College Road and adjoining roads, including erosion control works with underground drainage systems.Also visited were the Evbuotubu Road and Okhunmwun Road projects, totalling about seven kilometres.Others include the reconstruction of the 12.6-kilometre Upper Ekehuan Road, stretching from Urhuokhokho to Ugbineh community.

The commissioner further inspected the 1.4-kilometre Catholic Charismatic Renewal Road, where construction and erosion control works are being carried out.The inspection team also visited the Adesuwa–Sapele Road Flyover, the Ramat Park Flyover, as well as flood control, gully reclamation and surface and underground drainage works along Obaseki Street by Ikpoba River, covering about 2.48 kilometres.Other sites inspected include the 10.52-kilometre Ekiuwa–University of Benin Road, and the 4.2-kilometre Palace Road project.Speaking at the Adesuwa–Sapele Road Flyover site, Setraco’s project engineer, Engr. Lorenzin Maurizio assured the commissioner that construction was progressing in line with approved specifications and would be completed within the scheduled timeframe4
