Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has named Temitope George as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, a move aimed at reinforcing regulatory governance and advancing reforms within the state’s power sector

The appointment was announced in a circular released on Tuesday by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, who stated that George’s nomination is subject to confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly. The memo indicated that the governor has approved her appointment, which will formally take effect once it receives legislative clearance.

The decision represents a significant milestone in Lagos State’s broader drive to strengthen institutional frameworks in the electricity industry, following recent market and regulatory reforms.George currently serves as Lead Partner for Energy, Infrastructure and Policy at Adegbola-George & Co and brings more than 20 years of experience spanning legal practice, regulation and public governance.

Her career includes advisory roles for governments, multinational corporations and development agencies, particularly in the areas of energy, infrastructure, construction and public–private partnerships. She has been involved in the structuring of major infrastructure projects, regulatory negotiations, complex commercial transactions and compliance with both local and international governance standards.Stakeholders in the sector believe her expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of electricity regulation in Lagos.

The Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission is expected to play a pivotal role in improving efficiency, safeguarding consumer interests and boosting investor confidence, as the state pursues greater control over its power sector and enhanced electricity service delivery.
