Legal history has been made as Olamide Mojigbotoluwa Ehinfun-Adekunle becomes Nigeria’s youngest female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).The 40-year-old was among the 68 distinguished legal practitioners sworn in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, on October 12, 2026, to mark the opening of the 2026/2027 Legal Year.

She was one of only four women in the new silk set. From Kaduna to SilkBorn on June 25, 1986, in Kaduna State and an indigene of Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Ehinfun-Adekunle’s legal journey started at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where she bagged her LL.B between 2003 and 2009.She was called to the Bar after her studies at the Nigerian Law School (2009-2010) and went on to obtain an LL.M in International Trade Law from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom (2011-2012).

She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK.A Stellar CareerBefore joining the prestigious Afe Babalola & Co. in September 2013, she had stints at D. D. Dodo & Co. and the Nuhu Ribadu Campaign Organisation. She rose through the ranks to become a Partner at Afe Babalola & Co., building a formidable practice in complex litigation, commercial dispute resolution, oil and gas, arbitration, election petitions, transactional law and regulatory compliance, with appearances before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Her elevation was approved by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) on July 23, 2026.The Making of a SANHer love for law started early. Described as talkative by her parents and teachers in primary school, she was inspired by her father’s stories about politics in the old Western Region and the legendary legal career of Chief Rotimi Williams (SAN), “Timi the Law.”She credits her career growth to mentors including Aare Afe Babalola, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, SAN, and Pastor R. A. Ogunwole.Beyond the courtroom, the new silk has been vocal about the need to fix delays in Nigeria’s justice system and the high cost of prolonged litigation for businesses and ordinary Nigerians. At 40, Ehinfun-Adekunle not only wears the silk but breaks a glass ceiling for young female lawyers across the country.
