FROM BANKING HALL TO BLUEPRINTS: How Segun Phillips Is Building Nigeria’s Next Generation of Property Wealth

He started counting money in a bank. Today, he’s counting keys to homes and offices across Lagos.

Meet Segun Phillips, Nigerian real estate entrepreneur and Managing Director of Sabre Works Real Estate Investment Limited — a man who traded bank suits for hard hats and decided to help Nigerians at home and abroad build lasting wealth through property.

From Finance to Foundations
Phillips didn’t start in construction. He started in banking, advising clients on investments, savings, asset growth and capital preservation.

But sitting across from investors daily taught him something bigger: Real estate is where generational wealth is built.

Born and raised in Lagos, he watched the city transform in real time. Areas that were once bush are now Lekki, Ikeja, and Epe powerhouses. That transformation convinced him — location + time + discipline = legacy.

The Sabre Works Approach
Unlike many developers who came up through brick and mortar, Phillips brought banking principles to real estate.
His focus: Location, growth potential, capital appreciation, and long-term value.

Through Sabre Works, he’s creating property opportunities for Nigerians locally and in the diaspora who want tangible assets they can hold, rent, and pass down.

Some of the company’s key projects include:

  • Grosvenors Place, 100 Awolowo Way, Ikeja – A commercial hub with office spaces, retail, and lifestyle amenities to boost Ikeja’s business district.
  • Oranje Apartments, Atlantic Nominee, Lekki-Ajah* – 3-bedroom luxury apartments designed for young professionals and families.
  • Bewaji Imperial* – A luxury residential development.
  • Maldives Gardens, Ibeju-Lekki & Epe* – Land investment opportunities in Lagos’ fastest-growing corridors.

Why This Matters to the Diaspora
For many in the Afrocaribbean community abroad, the challenge has always been: How do I invest back home safely?

Phillips’ answer is simple: Apply banking discipline to real estate.
Through Sabre Works, he’s making it easier for Nigerians abroad to access prime property and affordable luxury without the usual headaches.

For him, it was never about leaving banking. It was about taking everything banking taught him about money and putting it into land, buildings, and communities.

The Bigger Picture
Segun Phillips’ story is a reminder that wealth in Africa isn’t just in oil or tech. It’s in land. It’s in buildings. It’s in giving people a place to live, work, and grow.

From counting deposits to delivering developments, he’s proving that with vision and structure, you can turn financial knowledge into physical legacy.
