University of Lagos (UNILAG), on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of South Carolina, United States of America (USA).The MoU was signed during a courtesy visit of a delegation of the University of South Carolina led by the Dean of the Institution’s College of Business and Information Systems, Dr. Matthew Guah, to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS at her office of the 11th floor of the Senate House.

Dr. Guah, accompanied by the Director, International Office, David Jamison and some students from the University, was received by Professor Folasade Ogunsola along with the Registrar, Mrs. Abosede Wickliffe; Director, Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre (ESDC), Prof. Sunday Adebisi; Deputy Director, International Relations, Partnerships and Prospects (IRPP), Dr. Victor Onifade; Director, Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Dr. Simeon Ifere; and Deputy Registrar, University of Lagos Business School (ULBS), Mrs. Adeola Akinyeye
Speaking at the courtesy visit, Dr. Guah revealed that the goal was to have a collaboration with the University of Lagos, especially in the areas of transport and agribusiness.The Vice-Chancellor spoke about the University, and its efforts to change the negative narrative/view that foreigners had of Nigeria by instituting the UNILAG International Week. She stated “Africa is the next frontier and its universities and innovations are better than people think and say. A lot is being done. We are underestimated, and that is good…”Under the MoU, the two universities are to collaborate on education and research programs, as well as promote faculty and student exchange with the aim of fostering a mutually beneficial relationship.
