Aya Gertrude Konan is a pioneering figure in Ivorian aviation, notably recognized as the first female commercial pilot trained by the Ivorian state. Her journey from flight attendant to esteemed pilot reflects determination and passion.​

Career Progression

  • Flight Attendant: Konan began her aviation career as a flight attendant with Air Côte D’Ivoire in April 2013, serving until October 2015. ​
  • Pilot Training: In late 2014, Air Côte D’Ivoire initiated a program to train young Ivorians as pilots and aircraft mechanics. Out of approximately 1,500 applicants, Konan was one of 15 selected and notably the only woman. She underwent rigorous training from October 2015 to February 2017, culminating in her certification as a commercial pilot. ​
  • First Officer: Since 2019, Konan has served as a First Officer at Air Côte D’Ivoire, piloting the Airbus A320. ​
